Ti ps for Exercising in the Summer Heat

  1. Stay hydrated! Drink plenty of fluids (especially water) before, during and after physical activity.
  2. Dress in lightweight, light-colored clothing to cool you down when you workout. Fabrics like cotton and linen are breathable and will keep you cool.
  3. Exercise in the mornings or evenings when the sun is lower and the air is a bit cooler.
  4. Ease into heavy exercise during the summer by gradually exercising more when your body gets used to the heat.
  5. Take to the water. Swimming and water aerobics are excellent ways to get your cardio exercise in.
